
Chrissie's Fund is a private tax-exempt 501 ( c ) 3 foundation established in 2007 to honor the memory of a shelter dog named Chrissie. The foundation will provide funding to help reduce dog overpopulation, promote suitable adoptions and support programs targeted to eliminate the suffering of dogs.
Chrissie's Fund anticipates funding a small number of significant, result-oriented projects that will advance the goals set forth in the mission statement. Grant applications are by invitation only.
Programs of interest include: medical care and placement for dogs found in hoarding or abuse/neglect situations; programs that reduce or eliminate euthanasia and increase adoptions at shelters; spay/neuter programs; training and socialization for homeless dogs.
Chrissie's Fund will take special interest in programs targeted to the welfare of larger dogs.
At this time, the board has four directors who serve without compensation. Chrissie's Fund has no paid staff.
