How To Help Chrissie's Fund

Adopt from a shelter or rescue group.

Consider being a foster parent for a dog waiting for a home.

Do not support stores or internet sites that sell puppies.

Make a donation to a charitable animal organization.

Volunteer at your local shelter.

Hold a fund raiser for your local shelter.

Report animal cruelty/neglect to your local police department, animal control or animal protection organization.

Support legislation that protects the rights of animals.

Support legislation that promotes spay/neuter initiatives.

Remember that your dog depends on you to give his life quality.  If he could tell you how, it might go something like this:

  • My life is probably going to last ten to fifteen years.  Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
  • Give me time to understand what you want of me.
  • Place your trust in me.  It is crucial for my well-being.
  • Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment.  You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
  • Talk to me.  Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice.
  • However you treat me, I will never forget it.
  • Before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, but choose not to bite.
  • Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me.  Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I could have some aches and pains, or my heart might be getting weak.
  • Please take care of me when I grow old.
  • On the ultimate journey, go with me. Don't say you can't bear to watch.  I would rather not face this alone.  Everything is easier for me if you are there because I love you.
